Real-World Inspiration

It’s based on the Fort Bonifacio Tenement court in Taguig City, in Metro Manila — one of the most beloved streetball venues in the basketball-obsessed Philippines. The real court sits in the courtyard of a seven-story public housing block where thousands of residents live, and it doubles as the community’s gathering place for festivals and games. NBA stars including LeBron James and Jordan Clarkson have visited it, which is part of why its inclusion meant so much to Filipino players. Note that some coverage loosely calls it “Manila,” but it’s specifically in Taguig within Metro Manila.

How the Manila Run Plays

The Tenement is one of the four non-US courts at launch and has a Tournament Finals variant. Its defining trait is enclosure: the walled-in courtyard and overhead crowd make it feel the tightest and most atmospheric stage in the game, a strong contrast to open-air Venice Beach.
