In the Zone Ability
Rocket Man
Raises Speed and removes the energy drain from sprinting while In the Zone.
What Rocket Man does
Rocket Man is the speed Zone Ability carried by the game’s open-court burners — Ja Morant and Tyrese Maxey. When the carrier enters the Zone, Rocket Man raises their Speed rating and removes the energy drain from sprinting, so they can push the pace end to end without their stamina bleeding out the way it normally would.
It is built for transition. With no sprint cost, the carrier can run in the open floor on every possession, outracing the defense to the rim and forcing the other team to scramble back rather than set up. Even in the half-court, the speed edge makes blow-bys and closeouts a constant threat.
How to use it
Push, push, push. Rocket Man rewards relentless pace, so grab-and-go off every rebound, leak out in transition, and attack before the defense is set. Because sprinting no longer drains energy, you never have to pick your spots — keep the carrier in attack mode for the full window. Pair it with a passer who can hit the runner in stride and you turn defensive rebounds into instant layups.
The In the Zone meter
Rocket Man comes online through the carrier’s own In the Zone meter — each player charges theirs with their own play: tricks, dunks, dimes and buckets, with bigger highlight plays filling it faster (the Aura rating is that player’s personal charge rate). When the meter is full, activate the Zone with L3+R3 for roughly 30 seconds of boosted speed, power and stamina plus the signature ability. Position the carrier before you pop it — activating while they’re out of position or gassed wastes part of the window.
Both the effect text and the carrier list here are verified verbatim from the in-game player-select cards.
