NBA Player
Ja Morant
Blazing pace and lob-threat athleticism in the open court.
Strengths
- +Elite open-court speed in transition
- +Explosive above-the-rim finishing
- +Tight handle for breaking down defenders
Weaknesses
- –Smaller frame on defense
- –No rim protection or rebounding (2 blocks, 2 boards)
Ja is the grab-and-go nightmare on the break. A crowned 5 on dunks, 5 speed, and a 6’2“ frame means once he’s got a step in the open floor, he’s at the rim before the defense crosses half-court — and what’s waiting up there is a poster. The guard kit underneath is just as nasty: maxed handles to shake a man off the dribble, maxed twos to finish through traffic, and 5 passes to drop it off if the help finally commits. He’ll even keep you honest from deep at a 4.
The card tells you where to attack him, though. He’s a 3 on Guard, a 2 on blocks, a 2 on the glass — a smaller body that can get hunted in the post and won’t clean up many of his own misses. Keep him pushing forward, not chasing backward.
In the Zone: Rocket Man. His Zone is built for exactly what he already does best. Trigger it and his Speed rating climbs while the energy drain on sprinting disappears, so he runs end to end every possession without his stamina bleeding out. There’s no picking your spots — keep him in attack mode the whole window, leak out off every stop, and outrun the defense to the rim long after a normal guard would have to coast.
Run him with a rim-protecting big who lets him gamble for steals and turn stops into instant offense — a Wembanyama type anchors the paint Ja’s frame can’t, and feeds the break Ja’s already winning. A spacing shooter next to him stretches the floor his speed punishes.
