NBA Player
Josh Giddey
An oversized point-forward who sees the whole floor.
Strengths
- +Elite court vision and passing
- +Size to rebound and push in transition
- +Point-forward versatility
Weaknesses
- –Modest self-creation inside (3 twos, 3 dunks)
- –Not a lockdown on-ball defender
Giddey runs the offense from a 6’8“ frame, and the card backs it up: 5 passes and 5 handles, with the stamina (5) to keep the ball on a string and the engine humming all game. He sees over the top of every guard guarding him, pushes off the glass — 4 rebounds, 4 speed — and gets the break going before the defense sets. He’s a 4 from deep, which is enough to keep a closeout honest, but the real value is what he creates for everyone else, not what he scores himself.
The holes are the parts that don’t involve setting someone up. 2 steals and a 3 on guard mean he’s not winning you possessions on the ball, and a 3 in twos and dunks says he’s not the guy you want hunting his own bucket in traffic. Park a stopper next to him and let Giddey be the brain, not the muscle.
In the Zone: Dropping Dimes. His takeover bumps his own Passes and Speed and stamps a Shots boost on any teammate who scores off his feed — the advantage travels down the chain, he makes the read, the finisher cashes it. When it fires, don’t force your own look. Whip it to your best shooter or a cutter and let the boosted finish do the work.
Run him with a knockdown shooter and a rim-runner. A Deep Threat wing turns his feeds into easy threes, and a downhill big eats the lobs he drops over the top — two ways to spend the dimes he’s handing out.
