Length is the whole problem with guarding Durant. At 6’11“ with a crowned 5 from two, a 5 from deep, and maxed handles, he gets to any spot he wants and shoots clean over the top of the contest — there’s no hand high enough to bother that release. Pair that with 5 stamina and he’s pulling up all game without the shot ever wobbling. He’s a self-sufficient bucket: 4 dunks to finish through traffic, 4 passes to keep a possession moving, no screen required to get going.

The card tells you where the soft spots are too. 2 steals and 2 rebounds mean he’s not the guy disrupting the ball or cleaning the glass, and 3 power says he gets moved off his spot by a stronger body. His guard sits at 4 — fine, not a stopper. So he scores you to death but wants someone else handling the dirty work.

In the Zone: Deep Threat. His signature stretches effective range well past the arc and cuts the guard penalty, so a contested deep pull-up still greens — a defender draped on him barely matters while it’s live. It’s hardest on squads built around tight perimeter pressure, since that pressure is exactly what the ability cancels. Set him on the wing before you pop the Zone so he’s already in range when the window opens.

Run him with a playmaker and a body. He’s not your primary creator, so a passer who can feed him on the move lets KD do nothing but hunt buckets — and a rugged interior defender covers the rebounding and the on-ball grit his sheet says he won’t supply.
