Zion Williamson

A freight train at the rim with rare power and bounce.

ANBA Player Interior Force
Scouting Report

Strengths

  • +Overpowering interior finishing
  • +Rare combination of power and leaping
  • +Fast for his size in the open floor

Weaknesses

  • –Limited outside shooting range
  • –Guard bar sits at 3 — more bully than stopper on the perimeter

Zion turns a 6’6“ body into a wrecking ball at the rim. Maxed twos, maxed dunks, 5 power — he gets a shoulder into a defender and finishes through the wreckage, and there’s not much you can do to wall it off. Add 4 speed for a runner that size and he’s a transition problem, plus 4 boards, 4 blocks and 4 steals to do honest work on the other end. The one real seam is the jumper: 3 from deep means he’s not stretching anybody, so a packed paint is the way teams try to slow him down.

In the Zone: Posterizer. Built for exactly this kind of finisher — it bumps his already-maxed dunks and his chance to posterize, then keeps a flattened defender down for 1.5x the knockdown time. So a slam isn’t just two points, it’s a body on the floor and out of the next play. Don’t fade away from the help; drive straight into it and hang the poster.

Run him with a shooter who drags that help defender out of the lane and a passer who can hit him on the move — Tyrese Maxey’s perimeter pressure and feeds are a clean fit, and any Deep Threat spacer (think Curry) cracks the paint wide open for Zion to attack.
