Court Modifier

Triple Threat (Three-Point Bonus)

Three-pointers are worth extra (often described as 3 points while all other shots count for 1), pushing the action out to the perimeter for the round.

What the Three-Point Bonus Does

This modifier — referenced in community guides as “Triple Threat” — flips NBA The Run’s paint-first instincts on their head by making long-range shooting the highest-value play of the round. Coverage describes it as threes worth three while everything else drops to one point, so a hot shooter can bury an opponent quickly. The exact in-game name and point split aren’t authoritatively locked down yet, but every source agrees the takeaway is the same: shoot from deep. (Not to be confused with Deep Threat, the In-the-Zone shooting ability — that’s a player signature, not a ruleset.)

How to Win a Three-Point Round

Spacing and ball movement win here. Put your best shooters on the floor, keep the court wide, and hunt open catch-and-shoot windows rather than forcing contested drives. Quick swing passes punish defenders who help off the perimeter. If you have a designated sharpshooter, this is the round to feed them.

Draft Implications

A roster with at least one reliable perimeter shooter is far more comfortable when this modifier appears. Squads built entirely around slashing and dunking can still attack closeouts for layups, but they’ll be fighting uphill against any team that can stroke it from outside — keep a shooter on your bench so a random Three-Point round doesn’t catch you flat.
