New on the Guru: Range Charts, the Crew Builder & Short Share Links
A week of new tools: Shooting Range cards on every player page (help map them), a full 3-man Crew Builder with an honest strengths/weaknesses read, head-to-head matchup pages, and share links short enough to survive Discord.
The June 25 patch got its full breakdown — this post is everything that’s shipped here since. Short version: the tools got deeper, and two of them now need your testing.
Shooting Range cards — and a mapping project
The under-feet range dot turned out to be one of the game’s biggest hidden systems: it’s a shot-quality readout (green → yellow → orange → red), it reaches different distances for different players, and a range Zone like Deep Threat stretches it absurdly — Curry’s dot stays makeable out to half court, and to the far rim with Deep Threat live.
Every player page now has a Shooting Range card that charts this by court landmark. One problem: only Curry’s is mapped. The Lab has the method — walk a player out from the hoop, note where the colors flip, drop your reading. Your findings go straight onto the roster pages and the Compare tool.
The Crew Builder
Lineups grew up. Build your full 3-man crew — duplicates allowed, three Currys is a real (if spicy) choice, just like in-game — and get an honest Crew Report: what the trio does well, where it’s exposed, and a clearly-marked soft spot even when there’s no real hole. No balance lectures; a stacked crew gets a fair read.
Share links that actually survive Discord
Your Tier Maker board and your crew both compress into links short enough to paste anywhere — a full 43-player tier list is ~80 characters, a crew is 3. Crew links now use a ?c= query so Discord’s unfurler can’t strip the code. Build a board, drop the link in an argument, settle it.
Head-to-head pages
Eight popular matchups got permanent pages with a computed verdict — including the two Kevin Durants, who match on 11 of 13 categories and still don’t shoot the same. That gap is exactly what the range project above is chasing.
Smaller but worth knowing
- The tier list and the roster grid now show computed tiers everywhere, re-read from the in-game cards after every patch.
- Power Rankings (#1 to last) and Community Rankings are live — rate any player on their page and the crowd board fills in.
- Every ability page now quotes its verbatim in-game card text, and the roadmap tracks what’s coming (three new players this month).
- Rulesets carry their official names + rarity now — Oop City and Dunkfest are Rare rounds since the patch.
Got the game? The two things that most need hands right now: map a player’s range and test the “updated” players whose bars didn’t move.
