In the Zone Ability
Going Off
Broad offensive boost across Shots, Dunks, Handles and Passes while In the Zone.
What Going Off does
Going Off is the all-around offensive Zone Ability carried by the game’s complete scorers — Cade Cunningham, Jayson Tatum, the rookie Durant and Shai variants, and rookie AJ Dybantsa. (LeBron James carried it until the August 10, 2026 patch moved him to Dropping Dimes.) When the carrier enters the Zone, Going Off lifts shooting, dunks, handles and passing all at once, making them a complete offensive engine who can pull up from deep, attack the rim, break a defender down off the dribble, or hit a teammate, all at an elevated level.
Where a specialist ability like Deep Threat sharpens one tool, Going Off raises the whole toolbox. That makes the carrier impossible to scheme against during the window — take away the jumper and they drive; sag off and they shoot.
How to use it
Read the defense and exploit whatever it gives you. Going Off shines when you stay aggressive and let the matchup dictate your move — pull the trigger from range against a sagging defender, attack a closeout, or whip a pass when help commits. The handles boost makes isolation creation easier, so you can hunt the matchup you want. Because every offensive stat is up, there’s no wrong choice; the goal is simply to keep generating quality looks until the Zone runs out.
The In the Zone meter
Going Off comes online through the carrier’s own In the Zone meter — each player charges theirs with their own play: tricks, dunks, dimes and buckets, with bigger highlight plays filling it faster (the Aura rating is that player’s personal charge rate). When the meter is full, activate the Zone with L3+R3 for roughly 30 seconds of boosted speed, power and stamina plus the signature ability. Position the carrier before you pop it — activating while they’re out of position or gassed wastes part of the window.
Both the effect text and the carrier list here are verified verbatim from the in-game player-select cards — including the July 21 rookie, whose card was captured and read day-one.
